Received my results today and it says my chlamydia results came back as equivocal. Unsure as to what this means? Do I have chlamydia and what are the chances of my retest coming back as positive? What is the reason this test has come back as it has? Thanks!
Thanks for your question. The chlamydia test, like most laboratory tests does not give a yes/no answer - it gives a range of different values. The laboratory has a cut off point - if it is above a certain value then it is positive and if it is below a certain value it is negative. But if it is right on the border it is equivocal. The only thing to do in that situation is to re-test.
