Implant replacement

#1

@Dr_Paula
Hi there!
I have recently had my implant replaced, just shy of the 3 year mark, and was wondering if the 7 day waiting period for effectiveness also applies to replacements, or am I immediately protected?

Thanks so much for the help!

Hello @n72

Many thanks for your question. As long as you are within the 3 years and you take out the old one and put in the new one on the same day then you do not need to wait 7 days before the new one becomes effective.

Many thanks

Paula

@Dr_Paula

Thank you so much for your quick help!! This is an amazing service you do.
I was also wondering whether having regular monthly periods while on the implant was ok? The fact that so many have irregular / no bleeding makes me concerned that something may be wrong with the implant. that is allowing me to have a normal cycle.

Thank you so much again!

Hello @rr72

Really glad to be of help!

Just under one third of people who have the implant have regular periods - you are one of the lucky ones. As long you know that the implant is in place (you can feel it) It does not mean that there is anything wrong with the implant or that it is not working effectively.

Many thanks

Paula
