Self-injectable contraception?

The World Health Organisation guidelines released today make a recommendation for self-injectable contraception to be endorsed by clinicians and used more widely…

How would you feel about injecting your own contraception? It involves injecting a small needle into your leg or stomach and squeezing a small reservoir of the liquid contraception through the needle. Personally, I feel quite scared by the idea… I’m not squeamish about blood tests, but the idea of injecting something into myself scares me a little bit. And not sure how I would get rid of the needle safely afterwards. I haven’t gone for the injection before because I don’t like contraception that can’t be removed if it doesn’t suit me, but maybe it would feel more manageable if I was in control of it?

What does everyone think??
