Hi, doctor:
I found out tonight that my boyfriend is taking Symtuza. I asked him, and he said it’s PrEP. I checked online, it seems it is for HIV treatment. I want to make sure what symtuza exactly is. And what should I do now. Thank you.

Hello @Colin

Many thanks for your question.

Obviously I don’t know the context here but if someone is on HIV treatment and taking this regularly and their viral load is undetectable then they cannot pass HIV on.

As far as I know, Symtuza is usually used for HIV treatment and not PrEP.

Possible options for what you do now could include, further discussion with your partner for more details on why he is taking this medication and if HIV positive what is his viral load and maybe HIV testing for yourself?

I hope this is helpful

Many thanks
